In Japanese, "tasogare" (黄昏) primarily means twilight or dusk, referring to the period when daylight fades and it's hard to recognize people. The word originates from the old Japanese expression "tasokare" (誰そ彼), which means "Who is that?". This ancient phrase was used when the dim light of dusk made it difficult to identify approaching individuals, and the term "tasogare" evolved to refer to this mysterious time of day. |
